Apologies for the lack of blogs since we returned from Kenya. Things have been very busy and our blogging responsibilities have been forgotten somewhat…
Anyway, you may notice that a few changes have taken place, most noticeably our name. This occurred in January when we launched our new website. We had to let go of Kenya Works (which was very hard) for a number of reasons and during a brainstorming session we came up with the name Balloon Kenya.
Balloon is a metaphor for our programme. In a sense we are the balloon, we provide the structure that allows great businesses to be created. But it’s what’s inside the balloon that really matters most and that’s the people that join our programme. So we provide the structure and support to allow people to rise, but it’s participants that do all the hard work and really make the programme great.
More importantly than the name change, though, we have been recruiting for our first programme. Applications are now closed and we are going through some fantastic resumes trying to choose the right people to join our team. We’ll announce the successful candidates in the next few week and feature them on this blog.
Once again huge hanks to all of you who have supported us and enabled this often audacious project to grow. We hope you all will continue to take interest and get involved on this journey! We are sure that 2012 will be the year of the Balloon!
